Everything I wanted in a laptop. Incredible graphics and brilliant colors. I like the smaller version as I travel a lot and have seen those poor souls with the 15 or even 17 inch screens. Felt even sorrier for the passenger next to them. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful

I switched from years of using PCs to Apple just to see what all the buzz was about. I consider that the costliest mistake I've ever made. The computers are too expensive and their CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST IN THE INDUSTRY. Before you buy any products, read the online reviews about their service....the high price isn't just for the hardware...and when their product is defective, they won't send a replacement overnight...you have to wait 5-7 business days for standard shipping. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful

Needed a new laptop and went for the windows 8 but I hated the new system, maybe its just me but could not understand the drastic change and feeling like I had to do more compared to windows 7. I returned my windows 8 and went for the apple and i am glad I did. They really know what they are doing. The laptop is so easy to work with. Like it was designed for what people would want to the system to do, very user-friendly. Its simplicity is one of the things that makes it so great, aside from its quality design and sexy looks. If you dont like windows I would suggest trying a Mac. The investment is worth it. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful

LOVE IT!! This is the best laptop I have ever owned. I normally purchase Toshiba because I have had good success with them, but I wanted to try one of the Apple products after a friend of mine couldn't stop talking about how much he loved it.. I am hooked and will have this one for a very long time before I purchase another laptop.. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful

I was very dissapointed with the first Macbook Pro I received. I tried several times towork with Apple to resolve the issues the Mac was having after finally giving up with Apple my
son suggested going back to Amazon to replace the defective one I received.
I can tell you I will ALWAYS PURCHASE MY COMPUTERS THRU AMAZON!! They
we so easy to work with and replaced my laptop within 2 days!
I was shocked at the service Amazon provided compared to Apple.
I love Amazon and would recommend to purchase any and all your online items
through AMAZON! ~

What a difference in build quality. When I went with the iPhone I decided to join my son and switch to Apple. He has been trying to get me to switch for years. There is a little learning curve going from Windows to the Mac op but it looks simple enough. 2 of 4 people found the following review helpful

First I want to say that we are a Mac Family. Five of us and all use Macs. All love Macs. My husband has had some bad luck with Apple, though. His first MacBook Pro 15" gave him a lot of trouble. It was better after getting rid of Parallels but all along it seemed to be a bit of a lemon, unlike all the rest of our machines. Still, he used it for six years and chose to replace it with another Pro when he could no longer touch it without shutting it down. He ordered a MacBook Pro 13". It's a beautiful machine and the computer worked fine except that the optical drive did not work; just spit out dvd's. We returned it for a replacement. Second machine: one movie and that was it. We sent that machine back and they sent us a third one. Not a single movie would load! Well, after THREE bad optical drives, we lost faith. We ordered an Air and an external superdrive. Jeez Louise, that didn't work either! Not once. We've spent an enormous amount of time on the phone with Apple. We've set up four machines in two months and still don't have a working dvd drive for my husband. We've made several trips to the Post Office after repackaging three computers and a superdrive.Apple customer care reps are great and I've got an inbox full of emails from attentive people trying to help. This is all very nice, but what we'd like is for my husband to be able to watch a movie from dvd and for two months, he's been unable to do that. We are awaiting the 2nd superdrive, which will take another week to arrive, but do we have any faith at all that it will work? Hardly. If it plays a movie or two, how long will it last? I hope my own old MacBook lasts long enough that Apple can get their act together because I'm afraid to order a replacement.
Apple sends email shipment notices with a place to click for tracking information. I've had several of those lately and all I get when I click for tracking is "Page not found." The shipper is UPSH, whoever the heck that is and I cannot even figure out what site to try and find.
Update: The 1st superdrive probably worked. When the second arrived, I still had the same problem with it spitting out dvd's, but fortunately I got a smart agent on the phone who asked the question (and this is really embarrassing): "Is the slot on the bottom or the top of the unit?" OK, it's the only apple product that has the apple logo on the bottom of the unit instead of the top. We were inserting dvd's upside down. Right side up, it works! This doesn't answer the mystery of the three MacBook Pros that didn't accept a dvd because I assure you, we knew the top from the bottom of the computers. Maybe that was something stupid, too, though. Just wanted to be fair; we're now happy with the Air and the superdrive. All is well.

I purchased this Macbook about a week ago, and I have to say that I'm genuinely satisfied. I come from the high-end Windows laptop user base; my previous laptop was a Dell XPS. I thought the transition would be difficult at best and would take some time to fully familiarize myself with the new Mac ecosystem. If you are considering switching from a Windows computer, do it. I have no regrets. OS X is simply amazing, and while there is a learning curve if you're coming from another OS, it's easy as pie to understand. Everything just works on a Mac. WIth the exception of some games- but with Boot Camp you can install Windows on any Mac. And this MacBook looks as good as it performs. Simple details, crafted aluminium and real glass make this laptop blow away the other plastic ridden, bulky sticker filled laptops. This computer exceeds my expectations in almost every category. My only issues with the laptop are as follows:
1) It looks beautiful. Yes, that's a good thing, but it's made from aluminum that scratches easily. You're better off buying a case alongside the purchase of your mac. A keyboard cover also wouldn't hurt. A scratch on a $1,500 MacBook is unforgivable.
2) There is no HDMI port. This is an issue for me, as I frequently connect my computer to my television. But there is a simple solution; purchase a mini-displayport to HDMI adapter.
3) The sound on this laptop is severely lacking. On my previous XPS (and other mid-range laptops) sound really wasn't an issue. But with this laptop, the bass is very weak and the sound comes out sounding tinny. My solution to this was to purchase Boom by Global Delight ([...]). Boom is a software application that adds sort of system wide equalizer to the Mac, thus affecting all outgoing sounds. It's a good fix, in my opinion. I have it set up to bass boost all the time, and the music comes out sounding decent, if not SLIGHTLY tinny (MUCH less tinny than before).
So there you have it. And if price is a concern, you're really paying for build quality. I've never seen any other laptop at this quality for much cheaper.
